Today's the last day that the Canadian Mint will be issuing pennies. They've determined that it actually costs more then 1 cent to make a penny, so it' not worth it to keep them in circulation. I don't know how long it will be till they are fully out of circulation, but we have put a few aside to pass on to the grand kids one day. Currently they also make up Liam's pocket money. Hilary and I empty our wallets of all of our pennies and nickels into a jar and when there is enough to roll, Liam gets the cash. I guess with inflation the way it is these days, we'll have to start giving him nickels and dimes instead.
